It's Silly, I Know.

I just had a singing concert tonight, and it was my last one of the year. And we sounded GOOD. The select group I'm in sang both of our tight-nit jazz pieces impeccably and our main choral group performed Eric Whitacre's With a Lily in Your Hand (aka SUPAHHHH INTRICATE), and Rutter's challenging Requiem with a full orchestra. Also (not to toot my own horn), but I received an award and got recognized for being accepted into an All-State choir. Now, after the performance, when your feeling good and (I know it sounds stupid, and TOTALLY vain) you want someone to tell you how FABULOUS you were and how TALENTED you are. I was looking for this from my parents, and they promptly decided to change the conversation to my schedule for tomorrow. Wake up. School. Come home. Eat. Get ready for prom. Sleep. I'm left in the lurch saying "Ummmmmm....hello? I just performed four INCREDIBLY difficult pieces that we've been working on for months! Any recognition?" It's silly, I know (hence the title), but everyone likes to be appreciated after a performance. Forgive me for this rant-y and tremendously self-indulgent rant, but I need to say (or type) something.

P.S. This is what we sang. DIFFICULT, no?
