A Genius of Our Time.

You know how there are those people, nerds even, that can talk for hours about an obscure prson or thing that they are obssessed. Well, I'm one of those people. Recently I've thought about those people that are pure geniuses in their field. Yes, there is Einstein, and all those historic people...but I'm talking about the genius pepole that we know an can relate to. Here are "my" geniuses.

Mr. Eric Whitacre: a contemporary choral composer who is the Mozart of our time. He a truly revolutionary composer who is only a merely 31 years old. He has been put on the same pedestal as John Rutter. Whitacre uses super intricate harmonies and creates chords that boggle the mind. You think, "How the hell does he think of that?" and you have an ear-gasm for a while. Plus, he's not bad lookin' either. This song"Leonardo Dreams of his Flying Machine" is currently my obsession.

Genius. Pure Genius

Mr. Alexander McQueen: a visionary fashion designer whose groundbreaking designs can only be described as walking art. Alexander McQueen's designs have broken boundaries of what is consion.ed fashion. He comes up with insanely beautiful art pieces that yet again leave you wondering "HOW THE HELL????"

Here are some pictures from his "Savage Beauty" show at the MET.

I leave you in a state of bliss. Don't mess it up.

Time Flies.

My brother graduated from college. COLLEGE. Holy crap. I'm just in awe.
I'm so proud, yet scared at the same time.
That's where I'll be in only five years.

When you think of five years as "half a decade" it seems longer....I'll do that.

The End of the World.

Apparently, it's today. Well, I guess that means I don't have to do homework today. Although, I did wake up and for the first time it was sunny and birds were chirping, and everyone seemed to be in a happy mood...ominous? Well, even if it is that last day of the WORLD, we're gonna party it up PROM STYLE. Toodles.

Prom Eve.

School was a-buzz today, about PROMMMMMMMMM tomorrow night. About what people are planning to do with their hair, and some girls were leaving school to get manicures, and it was just fabulous. However, holy crap! There seems to be so much drama...or "prom-a," as it's been known as. Everyone's stressing about how there is drama with their date. Drama with where "pre-prom" will be. And whose house will allow drinking for "post prom." Now, I'm going with mt group of friends....who might as well be the most practical and innocent group of people ever. We thought very practically. Our corsages are made out of silk flowers (so they don't die, yet look FABULOUS).Corsages are crazy expensive. But with fake flowers that look real...that were made by one of us? Genius. Dresses and tuxes that are borrowed, or reused. Pre-prom = one of our houses...to take pictures...and drink...ginger ale. One of our "group" is taking pictures, then going to a performance she's in, the coming back for the last hour of prom. Genius-ly practical. Annnnnd, we're not renting a fancy schmancy limo or "party-bus," we're taking our OWN party bus...aka the SCHOOL BUS!!!!! WOOP WOOP!!! Here's our equation for our post prom:

post prom = friend's house + disney movies + (sleepover x fun) - drinking

I'm excited. And I've been a total nerd in school for saying that. Whatever.

Corsages are funny things.

It's Silly, I Know.

I just had a singing concert tonight, and it was my last one of the year. And we sounded GOOD. The select group I'm in sang both of our tight-nit jazz pieces impeccably and our main choral group performed Eric Whitacre's With a Lily in Your Hand (aka SUPAHHHH INTRICATE), and Rutter's challenging Requiem with a full orchestra. Also (not to toot my own horn), but I received an award and got recognized for being accepted into an All-State choir. Now, after the performance, when your feeling good and (I know it sounds stupid, and TOTALLY vain) you want someone to tell you how FABULOUS you were and how TALENTED you are. I was looking for this from my parents, and they promptly decided to change the conversation to my schedule for tomorrow. Wake up. School. Come home. Eat. Get ready for prom. Sleep. I'm left in the lurch saying "Ummmmmm....hello? I just performed four INCREDIBLY difficult pieces that we've been working on for months! Any recognition?" It's silly, I know (hence the title), but everyone likes to be appreciated after a performance. Forgive me for this rant-y and tremendously self-indulgent rant, but I need to say (or type) something.

P.S. This is what we sang. DIFFICULT, no?

Endless Belting.

Here is a compilation of amazing belting video s that I find myself trying to imitate in the shower...they never work.

My girl Marla. Never ceases to amaze me.

C'mon!!!!

Genius.

Then of course there's already made compilations that have my girls: Sutton, Judy, Barbra, Bernadette.

Okay. I'm obsessed. And I'm fine with that.

Lost in Time.

My alarm clock is 7 minutes fast. My cell phone is 5 minutes slow.To check the correct time, I either have to do math (crap), or go downstairs to look on the oven clock. My mornings are hectic. I wake up at 6:15 by my alarm clock (which really means that I wake up at 6:08) and "snooze" until (real time) 6:30. Then I am rushing, rushing, rushing to get up, get ready, look fabulous, and get down to catch the bus at 6:44.

....and THAT is why I don't eat breakfast a lot of the time.
Moral of the story.
