Bohemian Rhapsody...Tenor-i-fied

We all know Bohemian Rhapsody as one of Queen's most bestest songs everrrr...and rightfully so. But, this group called The Tenors do a fantastic cover of that very familiar song. Now, when you picture a tenor what do you see or hear? Falsetto? Vibrato? Amazingness? Yes. Now, picture Bohemian Rhapsody...but with semi-opera singers singing it. Okay. Just watch....the beginning (you know, the part with the twelve thousand part harmony) is perfect, and from points 3:08 on = falsetto-tastic. And now, I give you my current obsession:
GALILEOOOO!!!!...IT'S A FREAKIN HIGH E!!!

Oh Cheyenne.

Hunk. So talented. He is a Broadway actor who has been in shows such as All Shook Up, Xanadu, and Finian's Rainbow! And his name in Cheyenne Jackson. When he sings, it is either a romantic songstress...or a strong black woman invadeshis body. Watch, and you'll understand:

So sexy. He has been on countless magazine covers and was actually named one of Out magazines Out100 in 2008, for his amazing acting ability. Cheyenne was in a fantastic movie called United 93, which is a fictional story about the horrible 9-11 disaster. Thrilling movie. Love it.

Well, in case you want to know more about Cheyenne....or just like to look at him (like me!)...here another video.

Age.

On the plane home yesterday from Ireland. I started to write my research paper for my African History class in high school. However, the Irish man I was sitting next to asked me, in a rather sexy accent, "Is this for Graduate or Undergraduate?" Now, I was actually rather flattered by this. He thought I was a college student? or even a graduate student? I'll take that! But, this got me thinking about age. Why is it that when you are younger, you want people to think you are older than you are...but when you get older, the thought of someone thinking you are five years older than you actually are is insulting and deserving of a slap across the face? Pickle. What IS the perfect age? Je ne sais pas.

America's Next Top Model

The primere of the 16th cycle of America's Next Top Model is on right now. I knw, I know...16 cycles is a bit tooo much. But what can I say? I'm hooked. But watch this below, as Tyra spoofs contestants vying for a spot to be: America's. Next. Top. [wait five minutes] Model.

I'm Home

So, the plane lands and on the speaker system comes "Georgia On My Mind." My best friend got back from Georgia today. Hilarious connection.

So, I got home two hours ago...and waiting for me from the mail is 10 college letters, each saying the same thing..."come visit our website and take a quiz to see if you are perfect for our school." These are colleges I've never even heard of.  Crayzay.

Sutton. Watch. Genius.

Leaving.

WHY?!?!?! I don't want to leave rainy old Ireland. However, it's funny,on our final day here...where we are packing, checking out and going straight to the airport...it's sunny. The one day where we have to spend all of our time inside...it's sunny. Irish luck? I don#t think so. Also, I have yet to see a leprechaun....although I did see this below! See ya back in the States...where the accent doesn't make you swoon and the people aren't as friendly. Score?

Ummmmm...Leprechaun Museum?!?!

DUBLINNNNN!!!!

TOP O' THE MORNIN TO YA!!!! Or, top of the night to ya! It's the end of my last full day here in Dublin and I got access to a computer with internet. It's currently 20:03 o'clock here, meaning it's 8:03 pm, which THEN means that is the States it's about 3:03 pm. And that will be all the math I'm gonna do for the rest of my vacation...which is half a day. Did you know it rains here? Well, it does...non-stop. Our concierge at the hotel we're in said (in a very sexy Irish accent nonetheless), "If you have a day where it doesn't rain, it's not an Irish day." Words of encouragement? But despite the weather, everything here is fantastic. THE PEOPLE ARE SOOOOOOOOO NICE!!!! It's cray-zay!...annnnnnd there are hot red-haired boys with the sexiest accents ever. A major plus in my book! Well, off to new adventures!

Questions for the Day.

Why do watercolors smell like stale hot cocoa?

What was the History homework?

Why do people put their nicknames as their facebook names? For a person you just met....wouldn't it be difficult?

Why did I spend 5 hours painting and watching Anderson Cooper on Regis and Kelly?

Will Adnerson Cooper ever dance?

Why does Diet Coke taste better than regular Coke?

Do my feet really smell?

Musings.

Lights.

Christmas lights add a true sense of warmth and ambiance. I replaced the curtains in my room with pretty and lovely white Christmas lights. Not a big deal to many, but to me its a major accomplishment. Love it. Well, that's all. I gotta get back to reading about homophobia in Africa. Hooray for research papers....and bigotry....

BRB UU.

This weekend I am going to youth conference for Unitarian Universalist youth. Now, when I have told people this, there has been a swarm of questions. "CONFERENCE? Aren't you a teenager?" "What's a Unitarian Universalist?" and of course "...huh?" This conference is simply a special spiritual place (where we also have a fierce ol' time) where a bunch of Unitarian UNiversalist youth get together, discuss issues, cuddle, and talk about life. It's an AMAZING social and spiritual expirience. Now, I don't really have the time or energy to explain what a Unitarian Universalist. Essentially, we are hippie-like spuer liberals who might not all believe the same but, but have joined together spiritually to figure out what there spiritual practice is. Got it? No? It's okay...no one REALLY knows. Now, I gotta go pack. BRB...in three days. Peace. Yo.

P.S. Happy One Month Anniversary, Blog!!...TOMORROW. It's funny...that on our anniversary...I'm not gonna be here. Don't worry, I bring you a gift when I get back. Maybe a funny story or recollection. One can only hope!

Drawing a Blank

Can someone actually draw a blank?
Like, pick up a piece of paper and a pencil and try to draw a blank.
Impossible. In order to draw a blank...you have to draw something...therefore defeating the purpose of the blank. Just a thought. If you take it to a deeper level, its impossible for a person to draw a blank.
You are always thinking of something. Always.

I find it a bit annoying. Even when you are "relaxed" you are thinking about something. Even in sleep, which is when our body shuts down, our mind keeps going.

I would just want to stop. Stop thinking, Stop doing. And just Be.

That's my meaningful blog for the day. Take it for what you want.

The Chain

Let me introduce you to someone newly very near and dear to my heart, her name is Ingrid Michaelson, and you might know her as the girl who sings "Be Ok." She's much like Sara Bareilles, my other absolute fave!!! One song that is truly movie is "The Chain" where Ingrid essentially sings a round with herself that is so melodic and beautiful. Now this recording is live, which means that she is singing with other people as her backup....creating the round...although when I first heard this I didn't know it was live. Therefore I thought all these voices were her. Their voices go so well together. I love it. Can't get over it. Beautiful. Melodic. The Chain.

Blargh Blog.

I'm so frustrated I can't even comprehend anything. All about the SATs and SAT scores. My parents are also not making it any easier. That's all for right now. Blargh.

Here's some Sutton Foster. Like sunshine, she always "makes me smile":

The SATs

What. the. hell. is. the. point. One test that is supposed to summarize your standing as a learner. BUT HOW? How can one test, the only tests your knowledge of math and English be a good indicator of your learning ability. It makes no kind of sense. Not only are you stressed about finishing a test...that is designed to not be finished. Insane. Also, this test is supposed to be one that you DON'T study for, yet there is a whole industry dedicated to the studying of the SATs. Books. Tutors. Classes. It's nonsense. This brings me to another point, this test does not accurately test your knowledge, but might test just how wealthy you are. If you have the money to spend on study books, tutors, or classes, there is an unfair advantage to those who don't. For, what they teach you in those books and classes is strategy. Strategies for figuring words you don't know;. Strategies for writing a top notch SAT essay. And strategies about how to finish the SAT. People who can not afford these luxuries are probably just as smart as their peers, but because they have not been able to have exposure to these lessons, their SAT scores would not reflect their finest work, and not reflect their actual intelligence. This  hinders ones chance into getting into the school of their choice when applying for colleges. This whole test seems unfair and insensitive to the people who are taking the test as its advertised as "A fair test, that depicts your intelligence, that one does not need to study for." Ridiculous.

The Audition

I am currently watching the Great Performances documentary about the Grand Semi-Finals, which  is called The Audition which documents the journey of 11 professional opera singer vying for a spot to have a job performing at The Metropolitan Opera. An insane honor. This is definitely one of my favorite movies...and it's my third time watching it. This documentary was definitely one of my first big exposures to modern day opera, which sparked my interest. This film made opera more relatable to me and has introduced  me to me favorite aria. "Ah Mes Amis" from Donzetti's La Fille Regiment. Now, this probably means nothing of value to you...but it makes me happy.

Plus, this film has introduced me to Alek Shrader...not only is he an AMAZING opera tenor, but he's rather pretty. No big deal or anything.

Those 12:24 AM Thoughts

You know how the best thoughts come to you in the middle of the night, and therefore prevent you from sleeping...well, that happened to me last night. I am planning a worship for a youth Unitarian Universalist conference and I have been thinking about coming up with one the entire week, but I kept drawing a blank. But just like that...at 12:24 I had a flood of ideas. Love it. However, then I had to write it all own and fell asleep at 1:30...yay lack of sleep. But all worth it. Rock on.

My New Obsession: Web Therapy

Everyone knows the fabulous Lisa Kudrow from the hit TV-sitcom Friends where she played the eccentric, hippie-like friend Phoebe Buffay, however in her current endeavor, Kudrow plays the hilariously self-centered therapist, Fiona Wallace, in the online hit "Web Therapy." Fiona's background is essentially that she is a therapist that once tried doing the full fifty minute sessions, but she never felt that anything could come of them, because they are just full of people talking about dreams, feelings, and emotions, that amount to nothing of importance. HI-LARIOUS. She has now condensed these therapy sessions into a measly three minutes...because she thinks it's a FANTASTIC idea. She is just the worst therapist EVER. Over the years, I have kept track of this online show, and as it's in its third season, Fiona's story has evolved. Her husband, Kip, is running for the governor's office...but is also realizing that he's gay. Lisa's EVERYTHING having to do with this is hilarious. Also, I love how the plot advances solely through these web therapy sessions. Also, her guest stars are hilarious. Jane Lynch. Alan Cumming. Molly Shannon. Selma Blair. And the extremely talented Meryl Streep. I can't get over how funny this is...but don't take my word for it. Below is a link to one of my FAVORITE episodes with guest star Molly Shannon, where she plays a reporter using the therapy session to get information about her husband's scandal. Watch:

I love it. A lot.

Cray-zay Snow!!!

HOLY CRAP!!!!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS SNOW?!?! I will be the first to say that I love snow soo much, but this is just ridiculous. When will it stop? Soon we'll have absolutely no place to put it. Solution? I have one. Let's all move to the Bahamas for a couple weeks. Genius? I think so.
